CBL Forms Strategic JV with ANTAM to Develop HPAL Facility in Indonesia
Warm congratulations to our client, Hong Kong CBL Limited (CBL), a member of the world’s largest electric vehicle battery manufacturer group, on the successful formation of its joint venture with PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM), named PT Nickel Cobalt Halmahera. Representing CBL’s strategic expansion in Indonesia, this joint venture, which is 70% owned by CBL, will develop and operate a High-Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) facility to produce Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP), a critical input in electric vehicle (EV) battery production.
This landmark transaction is part of a broader series of strategic initiatives under Indonesia’s strategic national program to develop a fully integrated EV battery ecosystem. It reflects Indonesia’s growing role as a key player in the global supply chain for sustainable mobility solutions.
CBL was advised by our Managing Partner, Pramudya A. Oktavinanda, alongside Counsel Ajeng Ayuningtyas and Associates Nahda Anisa Rahma and Aditya Fadhil Avisena (Adit), who led the preparation, drafting, and finalization of the incorporation documents. The team worked with dedication under tight timelines to ensure the smooth and timely execution of the deal.
We are proud to have supported this milestone collaboration, which reinforces Indonesia’s downstream nickel strategy and advances the country’s shift toward a green energy future.
Congratulations to all parties involved!
