UMBRA – Strategic Legal Solutions, in collaboration with Three Crowns LLP Crowns, successfully hosted a workshop for PT PLN (Persero), focusing on dispute resolution in the energy sector. The seminar addressed critical challenges and best practices in managing disputes relating to power projects, and we were delighted to engage in lively discussions with PT PLN’s Legal and Policy Sub-Directorate.

As leading firms, UMBRA and Three Crowns are committed to helping clients navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes. Power projects are high value and long-term, and while problems may be inevitable, the ability to manage issues properly to ensure business continuity is important. This seminar was designed to enhance the participants’ understanding of dispute avoidance, management, and resolution, with a focus on disputes arising from EPC contracts and PPAs. It covered topics such as recent developments in energy disputes, stakeholder dynamics, cultural considerations, and best practices in risk mitigation. Case studies explored force majeure claims, Extension of Time (EOT) disputes, and technical claims in energy-related projects. Through interactive discussions and case studies, we hope that participants are equipped with new and valuable insights to strengthen PT PLN’s role in key power projects in Indonesia.

We were happy to be joined by Daryl Chew, Three Crowns’ Singapore Office Managing Partner, and Counsel Shaun Pereira, who delivered very insightful discussions on the resolution of project disputes through international arbitration.
