The International Law Moot Court Society – Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia

Participating in moot courts is a key component in our legal education. Whether undertaken as a mandatory course at university or as an extra-curricular competition, “mooting” provides the opportunity for law students to experience the dispute resolution practise first-hand.

On 15 October 2022, the UMBRA Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (Litigation & ADR) team had the opportunity to give back to their alma mater at an alumni sharing session for the International Law Moot Court Society (ILMS) Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia.

Melati Siregar, the head of the UMBRA Litigation & ADR team spoke alongside partners of other Indonesian law firms on how mooting had positively impacted her career. The discussion revolved around how the mooting life teaches students about resilience and adapting to volatile situations, whilst polishing their advocacy skills.

The associates of the UMBRA Litigation & ADR team, Nikki KrisadtyoDioputra Ilham Oepangat and Ramadinan Saptara, also delivered a series of short lectures on arbitration related matters such as third-party funding and private international law.

All Universitas Indonesia alumni of the UMBRA Litigation & ADR team are highly decorated ex-mooters and current moot court coaches and, as such, UMBRA is always delighted to support Indonesian moot court teams who have proven to succeed around the world consistently.
