ALSA Legal Visit 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic highlights the paramount role of health in human lives. Recognising this and the global development, on 7-8 August 2020, the ALSA – Local Chapter Universitas Gadjah Mada held “ALSA Legal Visit 2020”, a two-day virtual conference for law students from various universities in Indonesia on legal issues in Medical Law. UMBRA – Strategic Legal Solutions was invited to discuss the topic “Informed Consent and Legal Protection for Doctors and Patients in the Middle of COVID-19 Pandemic” from legal practitioners’ perspectives.

UMBRA’s Partner and Counsel, Melati Siregar and Junianto James Losari respectively, presented about informed consent in a doctor-patient relation, as well as cases relating to medical negligence in Indonesia and other jurisdictions. Following the presentation, the participants practiced what they learned by analysing a fictional case.

The participants also learned about UMBRA and joined a virtual tour of its office. UMBRA’s Associate and Legal Assistant, Irawati Puteri and Rahma Hanum Amalia shared their working experience and useful advice for participants aspiring to practice at law firms.

UMBRA’s participation affirms its commitment to contribute to the development of legal education and law students in Indonesia.
