Indonesia’s criminal law landscape is changing, and we want our clients to be ahead of it. UMBRA recently conducted a Client Training Program for PT Sumitomo Indonesia and group companies in Indonesia, on the Implications of the Enactment of the New Criminal Code and the New Criminal Procedural Code.

The training was opened by Ibu Kistiandari Satrianingrum (Ririen), Director of the Corporate Unit. The session brought together Senior Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution Focus Group Melati Siregar, alongside Associates Reandy Summa Justitio and Ariq Nitipradja, who led participants through a comprehensive discussions on corporate crimes and corporate crime cases under the new legal framework, the new mechanisms introduced by the New Criminal Procedural Code, the authority, rights, and obligations of advocates and in-house counsels, and best practices for in-house counsels navigating this evolving landscape.

This integrated training program is particularly significant given Sumitomo Corporation’s extensive network of subsidiaries and affiliated companies; ensuring alignment and a unified knowledge update across the corporate group.

The enactment of the New Criminal Code and the New Criminal Procedural Code marks one of the most significant shifts in Indonesia’s criminal law landscape in decades. Sessions like this reflect our commitment to ensuring that our clients are not only informed but fully equipped to adapt and respond.
