Doctoral Dissertation Defence of Dr Junianto James Losari
We are pleased to announce that Dr Junianto James Losari, Counsel at UMBRA, has successfully defended his PhD dissertation at the City University of Hong Kong.
His research procedures for the taking of evidence in international arbitration and the divide between civil law and common law lawyers. His dissertation proposes a structured analytical framework based on justice, fairness and efficiency, for arbitral tribunals to assess evidentiary procedures, while at the same time highlighting the importance of transparency to foster procedural legitimacy. This contribution adds valuable perspective to ongoing efforts to build more coherent, effective, and efficient cross-border dispute resolution.
Today’s legal challenges require both a deep command of legal doctrine and the ability to think beyond it. As legal and commercial issues grow more complex, analytical skills are paramount. Academic pursuits such as this strengthen our ability to provide clients with strategic legal solutions that are both technically sound and commercially grounded.
At UMBRA, we believe in creating space for growth, not only in the practice of law but also in the pursuit of ideas that shape it. Dr Junianto James Losari’s achievement reflects that spirit of curiosity and discipline, both of which he brings to his role as Counsel every day.
We are proud to celebrate this milestone and look forward to seeing how James continues to contribute to our team, to our clients, and to the legal field more broadly.
