Training Session on Prompt Engineering for Lawyers

In recent years, the legal industry has witnessed a growing interest in the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into everyday legal work. As technological advancement continues to evolve, legal professionals are beginning to explore how tools such as generative AI can help streamline research, drafting, summarizing, due diligence, and analysis—ultimately enhancing the efficiency and quality of legal services.

Recently, UMBRA had the opportunity to host a training session on “Prompt Engineering for Lawyers” alongside Amana Solutions, an advisory firm specialized in enabling public sector organizations and private enterprises to deliver high-quality public goods & services. Through its Managing Partner, Prasetya Dwicahya, and Head of Operations, Kevin Tan, they provided us valuable insights into how lawyers can effectively use AI tools to support their legal practice as a discussion partner to complement their work, instead of their replacement. From crafting better prompts to ensuring the accuracy of AI-generated content, the session emphasized practical approaches that lawyers can adopt to stay ahead in an increasingly tech-driven landscape.

At the same time, the discussion reminded us of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and exercising professional judgment. While AI presents exciting opportunities, lawyers must remain vigilant in protecting client data and complying with ethical obligations.

As the legal field continues to adapt, embracing AI responsibly will be key to delivering thoughtful, innovative, timely, and secure legal solutions.
