We are excited to announce the formalization of our Law & Policy Focus Group (LPFG). For years, we have actively assisted our clients in numerous strategic sectors navigating the complex laws regulating their interactions with national and local governments, and the related political process, including: (i) preparation of various academic and legal studies for government policies, (ii) drafting, analysis and monitoring of legislation and regulations, and (iii) development of strategic and tactical plans to achieve specific policy or regulatory objectives.

Since we believe that this practice will be more crucial as supremacy of law becomes even more prominent in Indonesia, having a set of lawyers dedicated to the art of policy delivery is a must. The practice will be spearheaded by our Counsel, Angela Vania Rustandi. As the youngest counsel to be appointed at UMBRA, demonstrating her exceptional talent, she will be acting as the head of our new and exciting focus group. With an academic background in environmental law and sustainability, Vania has become a trusted advisor in the areas of energy transition, carbon trading, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. She adeptly navigates Indonesia’s dynamic and evolving regulatory framework in energy transition, delivering legal advice that is both compliant and precisely tailored to meet each client’s unique business needs.

We are also pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ima Mayasari (Ima) as our new Counsel in LPFG. One of the youngest lawyers to earn a doctorate in law degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia, Ima is a seasoned professional in the public policy sector. With speciality in administrative law and her first-hand working knowledge of government at every level, the addition of Ima to our core team members would allow us to provide clients with valuable insights, unparalleled access, and a deep understanding of the legislative, administrative, and regulatory processes to help traverse the maze of government.

Vania and Ima will work closely with our Senior Partner, Kirana Sastrawijaya, and Managing Partner, Pramudya A. Oktavinanda, as part of our M&A and Projects & Infrastructure Practice Group. They will also be supported by a set of dedicated lawyers each having multiple sets of experience in public policy and regulatory making works. Together, we combine academic prowess, regulatory and governmental network, deep industry insights, imaginative ideas, and most importantly, substantive, day-to-day experience with the issues that lie at the heart of our clients’ business.
