Report Launching – Delivering Power Sector Transition in Indonesia
Kirana Sastrawijaya, our Head of Power and Renewable Practice Group was recently invited to be provide comments as a panel in the report launching of Delivering Power Sector Transition in Indonesia (Report) prepared by Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR). This session was moderated by IESR and supported by The Rockefeller Foundation, and attended by relevant stakeholders including representatives from the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation MEMR, Indonesia IPP Association, and PT PLN Persero.
The keynote speech was given by Dr. Dadan Kusdiana as Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation MEMR, where he highlighted government plan and policy related to energy transition to achieve the Net Zero Emission and Paris Agreement’s goal.
Kirana shared her thoughts regarding the existing regulatory and legal framework for energy transition including how provisions in Presidential Regulation No. 112 of 2022 on the Acceleration of Renewable Energy Development for Electricity Generation (PR 112) will be relevant to accelerate the energy transition in Indonesia, including sharing the discussion with the panel how to mitigate legal risks in energy transition in Indonesia.
It is a pleasure to have a fruitful and interactive discussion with distinguished panellists, and we sincerely hope that the discussion brings insights and inputs to the relevant stakeholders in a roadmap to find good policy for Indonesian electricity sector toward just and successful energy transition.
