Knowledge Sharing: Peraturan Menteri ESDM No. 16 Tahun 2022 tentang Tata Cara Penyelenggaraan Nilai Ekonomi Karbon Subsektor Pembangkit Tenaga Listrik
It has been an honor to have our head of power and infrastructure partner Kirana Sastrawijaya, and associate Angela Vania Rustandi presented their insightful perspectives in “Knowledge Sharing: Peraturan Menteri ESDM No. 16 Tahun 2022 tentang Tata Cara Penyelenggaraan Nilai Ekonomi Karbon Subsektor Pembangkit Tenaga Listrik” held especially for PT PLN (Persero) on Friday, 3 February 2023.
The training delved primarily into the recently enacted Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 16 of 2022 on The Procedures for Carbon Pricing Implementation for Power Plant Sub-sector (MEMR Reg 16/2022). During the training, Kirana and Vania addressed the main provisions under MEMR Reg 16/2022 including the timeline for establishing an emission ceiling technical approval (PTBAE) for PLTU, the procedure for carrying out emission offset for new and renewable energy power plants, and several reporting obligations that must be carried out by business actors. Given that this training was specifically made for PLN, they emphasized the legal implications of MEMR Reg. 16/2022 that should be considered by PLN as the electricity state-owned enterprise in conducting carbon trading.
We are pleased to have a constructive and engaging discussion with PT PLN as one of the main actors in carbon trading. We anticipate having further discussion in the future and hope that we will be able to contribute to Indonesia’s development of carbon-related regulations.
