Workshop Perdagangan Karbon pada Pembangkit Energi Baru Terbarukan (EBT)
It is a pleasure for us to have our power and renewable partner Kirana Sastrawijaya, our managing partner Pramudya A. Oktavinanda, and our associate Angela Vania Rustandi to speak in “Workshop Perdagangan Karbon pada Pembangkit Energi Baru Terbarukan (EBT)”. The workshop is held from 20-22 September 2022 in Bogor by Directorate General of EBTKE, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), together with the Federal Ministry for Economy and Climate Protection (BMWK) of the German Government c.q. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The workshop was not only attended by officials from The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and GIZ, but also The Ministry of Environment and Forestry, The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, PT PLN (Persero), and other relevant stakeholders from the industry.
The workshop mainly discussed carbon credits, mechanisms and platforms for carbon trading, lessons learned from carbon trading in other countries, and the differences between carbon trading and renewable energy certificate (REC).
On the 1st day, Kirana discussed the legal implications of Presidential Regulation No. 98 of 2021 to carbon trading activities in Indonesia and Pramudya talked about how carbon trading will be conducted via a dedicated exchange platform in theory and practice.
On the 2nd day, Vania discussed the differences between REC and greenhouse gas emission reduction certificate under Presidential Regulation No. 98 of 2021 and how REC should be regulated.
As the topic is rapidly developing, we are exceptionally pleased to provide our insights to all the major stakeholders on the next big thing in Indonesia, ensuring that we continue to lead the way in deciphering the issues and complexities of carbon credits and their trading platform, being a completely new concept in Indonesia, and accordingly formulating the necessary policies! Exciting days for Indonesia indeed!
