ICC YAF – X-Factor: Choosing the Right Forum for Indonesian Business Disputes

On 28 June, our Senior Associate from the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution team, Nikki Krisadtyo, moderated and spoke at the first in-person ICC Arbitration Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) event in Indonesia on “X-Factor: Choosing the Right Forum for Indonesian Business Disputes” at Alila SCBD. Nikki was joined by distinguished speakers:

·  Alexander Fessas (Secretary General, ICC International Court of Arbitration, Paris)
·  Dimitris Katsikis (ICC YAF Regional Representative for South Asia; Senior Associate – Shearman Sterling, Singapore)
·  Natasha Nababan (General Counsel – PT Indosat Ooredoo Tbk, Jakarta)
·  Ryan Adiputra Budihardjo (Area Legal Counsel Indonesia Philippines – A.P. Moller – Maersk, Jakarta)

The panel discussed ways to avoid, manage, and resolve disputes from the contract negotiation until the enforcement stage. This includes choosing the right seat, institution, counsel, arbitrators, and procedure depending on the needs of each case, all of which are critical for an effective dispute resolution process.

We would like to thank the organizers, speakers, and participants for a lively and engaging event. After the panel discussion, the speakers and participants mingled at an intimate networking session. After more than two years of online events, it was wonderful to meet clients and fellow practitioners in person.

The event was organized by ICC YAF with the support of ICC Indonesia, co-sponsored by UMBRA – Strategic Legal Solutions and Shearman & Sterling LLP.
