Webinar “Cross-Border Jurisdiction in the Implementation of Indonesia’s e-Court and e-Litigation”
On April 29, 2020, our Managing Partner Pramudya Azhar Oktavinanda spoke as a co-speaker with the Honorable Syamsul Ma’arif, a Justice of the Supreme Court of Indonesia in a Webinar themed “Cross-Border Jurisdiction in the Implementation of Indonesia’s e-Court and e-Litigation” held by the Overseas Indonesian Student Association Alliance/Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia se-Dunia (PPI Dunia).
In recent years, the Supreme Court has begun to develop its own e-Court system that aims to facilitate electronic-based proceedings in Indonesia to support the realization of a simple, fast, and low-cost proceedings for justice seekers. We believe that this service is essential to help more people gain access to the courts and settle their cases in a more efficient manner. More importantly, with the emerging Covid-19 pandemic, developing and adapting to new practices in doing a safe court proceeding is simply unavoidable, and as such e-Court should be the future despite some technical challenges that we will need to improve in the future.
We thank PPI Dunia for the opportunity and we sincerely hope that our insights are beneficial to all attendees.
