Despite sparking intense debate, the Bill of the new mining law was approved during the 13th Plenary Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives on 18 February 2025. It was subsequently enacted as Law No. 2 of 2025 on the Fourth Amendment to Law No. 4 of 2009 on Mineral and Coal Mining (New Mining Law) on 19 March 2025.
